Our Principles

VISION: Giving Hope. Serving Communities. Building Futures.

Giving Hope – We are an organization that desires to live in hope, reflect hope, and bring hope to all those we serve. The source of this hope is ultimately the hope that is found in Jesus Christ. We desire to reflect that hope through one-on-one relationships with those we serve – i.e., students, families, mentors, community members, churches, schools, and clients of Community HOPE. We also desire to give students hope by providing educational tools of excellence that will improve their literacy skills, and ultimately give them hope for a future. And, where our students have hope so do their families and larger communities.

Serving Communities – Servanthood is a core value of our organization as we seek to embody servant leadership and empower others to serve from a heart motivation versus obligation. Our goal is to serve the students, families, community, mentors, and churches in a manner that enables them and encourages them to respond by setting examples of service themselves. It is our desire that all the groups we serve know their dignity and ability to give back to others. We will seek to serve communities by providing academic mentoring for students, offering training and mentoring opportunities for churches and members of the community, and creating ownership and leadership opportunities for our students’ parents.

Building FuturesIt is our objective that those we work and partner with have a vision and enthusiasm for the future. For our students, we plan to help them see a future, desire a future, and plan for a future by providing academic mentoring. This individualized, literacy-based instruction will pair students with 2 adult advocates (mentors), who will not only help them learn to read and write better, but will also be those who help cast vision for the child’s future. For our mentors, we plan to equip them to help cast vision for the child’s future through trainings and opportunities with the children. For our churches, we hope to prepare them to live out the future by engaging in kingdom work here on this earth. For our students’ parents, we hope to help them build their children’s futures by equipping them with tools and strategies to help their children be successful in school and in life. And, for other organizations that wish to be involved in this work, we desire to equip them with the materials, training, and vision to implement other Community HOPE sites.

MISSION:  To establish one-on-one relationships through academic mentoring that promote the holistic growth of children and communities

Fostering one-on-one relationships has always been at the heart of our organization as we know lives are changed not through programs, but through relationships. It will always be our goal to provide opportunities for students, mentors, parents, church, and community members to build authentic, growing relationships. Our academic mentoring program will be a great first step for these relationships to begin as all of our students are paired with 2 adult mentors who will engage the student on a weekly basis for the entire school year. The mentors will engage the students academically, but will also be challenged to go beyond academic mentoring to engage the students in a holistic manner. This may mean addressing character issues, needs of the student, dreams of the student, or any other issues that surround the student. Our hope is that through these relationships, the student, as well as the mentor and parent, will grow in holistic ways. Thus, the growth of an individual leads to the growth of a community.
